Open the App

  • Following successful installation of the Cortado Workplace app, you can find it in your mobile device’s main menu.
  • Open Cortado Workplace via the app icon.

Login

  • If you already have a Cortado Workplace account then enter your access credentials. Then choose LOGIN.
  • You can use the same Workplace account on different mobile devices (for example on an iPad and BlackBerry).
  • When using the app for the first time, select NEW USER in the lower left of the display.

Registration

  • Enter your e-mail address, confirm and then select REGISTER.
  • After registering successfully, you will receive a welcome e-mail with your access credentials. Please note carefully the information contained in this e-mail.

Saving to a SD Card

  • You can also save the Cortado Workplace app to your SD card instead of saving it directly on your device. In order to do so, open the menu on your Android device.
    Then select:
    SETTINGS → STORAGE → APPS → CORTADO WORKPLACE → MOVE TO SD CARD

Access Files and Folders

LOCAL DRIVE

  • Use this directory for files saved locally on your device.

CORTADO WORKPLACE

  • Use this directory to access files and folders which you have previously saved to your personal, password-protected online storage. You can upload files to this directory via a web browser. See HTML5 client »
  • Or copy files there from your Local Drive directory.
  • Here you can also find e-mail attachments which you have forwarded to your Cortado Workplace. See Opening E-Mail Attachments in Cortado »
  • In the folder MAIL, you can find all e-mail attachments that you have forwarded to your Cortado Workplace. To do so, forward the respective e-mail to save@workplace.cortado.com. Please note that the e-mail address from which you send the e-mail is identical to the e-mail address used to sign-up for your Cortado account.

When in an open directory, select the page corner icon in the upper right of the display to navigate between directories.


Switch View

  • You can choose whether to display your files and folders in list or tile format.
  • To change the view from list to tile format, tap the menu key of your Android device and then select SWITCH VIEW.

Manage Folders

  • Open a directory (for example Cortado Workplace) by tapping on it briefly.
  • You can then see the subfolders and files saved here.
  • To add a new folder, tap on the folder symbol in the lower left of the display.
  • Enter the new folder name and confirm with OK.

Edit Folders

Long tap on a folder to display the following options:

  • Send To
    Tap on the SEND TO icon to compress a folder (create ZIP).
  • Auto Up-/Download
    Tap on the AUTO UP-/DOWNLOAD icon to copy files located in this folder to another directory. The files will then be automatically updated. See Auto Up-/Download »
  • Rename
    Tap on the RENAME icon to create a new name for a folder. Confirm with OK.
  • Further Options
    Tap on this icon to delete a folder or display its properties.

File Options

Tap on a file to display the following options:

  • Print
    Tap on the PRINT icon to print the selected file. See Print Files »
  • Preview
    Tap on the PREVIEW icon to display a preview of the first page of the selected document.
  • Edit Files
    Tap on the MAGNIFIER icon to edit the selected file. See Edit Files »
  • Further Options
    Tap on the icon to display the following options:

Edit and Save Back Files

  • If you want to edit a document from your Workplace account, tap on it and then tap on the MAGNIFIER icon (See File Options »).
  • You can now select in which application the document should be opened. All applications available for editing this file type on your device are displayed. For example, a Word file can be opened with the "Polaris Office" program.
  • To then save the edited document back to your Workplace directory, simply tap on SAVE.
  • A requirement is that the selected application supports this option, the edited document is then saved back to the same location.

Export Files

  • To export a document in your Workplace account into PDF or ZIP format, first tap on the document.
  • Then tap on the FURTHER OPTIONS icon (See File Options ») and then on EXPORT.
  • Select the required format, and if required enter a new name and then confirm with OK.

Send Files As E-Mail

  • To send a document from your Workplace account as an e-mail, first tap on the document.
  • Then tap on the FURTHER OPTIONS icon (See File Options ») and then on SEND AS E-MAIL.
  • Send the file to the receiver by manually entering an e-mail address or by selecting it from your contacts.
  • Use the SEND TO ME option to send the file as an e-mail attachment to your mobile device.

Copy / Paste / Move Files

  • To copy a document, first tap on it.
  • Then tap on the FURTHER OPTIONS icon (See File Options ») and then on COPY.
  • Navigate to the target directory or folder and tap it. As soon as you take your finger away you will be given the option to move or paste the file.
  • Select PASTE if you want to create a copy of the file in the target directory or folder. Choose MOVE if you want to move the file, thereby deleting the file from its original location.

Share Files via E-mail

  • You can share files via e-mail. The recipient can access these files directly in his Cortado Workplace account.
  • Select a file you wish to share and tap on the Share symbol at the bottom left of the display.
  • Enter the e-mail address of the recipient. When choosing the option PREVIEW, the recipient can preview the file. Otherwise, he will be immediately requested to login to Cortado Workplace in order to access the file.
  • Tap on the icon on top right of the display to share the file.

Cortado Sync: Auto Up-/Download

  • When Auto Up-/Downloading a folder, a copy of the folder and its contents is created in another directory. If the folder is in the CORTADO WORKPLACE directory then a copy is created in the LOCAL DRIVE directory and vice versa. (Potential subfolders will not be copied.)
  • The contents of the copied folder will be updated automatically. Files edited in the source folder will be automatically updated in the target folder.
  • To use this feature, tap on the menu key of your Android device and then on SETTINGS. Enable the AUTO UP-/DOWNLOAD checkbox. If you want to use automatic updating only when you are in a Wi-Fi network, make sure to activate the WI-FI ONLY checkbox.
  • Now long tap on the folder destined to be your source folder. Then tap on the AUTO UP-/DOWNLOAD icon (See Edit Folders »). The source folder icon will now have a green arrow.
  • If the source folder is in the CORTADO WORKPLACE directory, then the relevant target folder will be automatically created in the LOCAL DRIVE directory in the Cortado folder, AUTO DOWNLOAD subfolder.
  • If the source folder is however located in the LOCAL DRIVE directory, then the target folder will be automatically created in the CORTADO WORKPLACE directory, in the AUTO UPLOAD folder.
  • The target folder now has an orange arrow.
  • To designate another folder as a target folder, long tap it and then select the FURTHER OPTIONS icon and then on PROPERTIES (See Edit Folders »).
  • Then select the option: Set as Auto Up-/Download targe folder.
  • Please note that only one folder can be designated as a target folder for Auto Up-/Download.

Print Files

  • First, tap on a file, then select the PRINT icon (See File Options »).
  • Then tap on the menu key of your Android device. The following options are now displayed:

    Wi-Fi Printers:
    • All available printers located in your Wi-Fi network are listed here.
    • Choose the required printer and then the printer model.

    Bluetooth Printers:
    • All available Bluetooth printers are listed here.
    • Select a printer and when prompted, enter the printer password.
    • Then choose the printer model.

    Enter Manually:
    • If your printer is not listed, then you can manually enter the IP address of your printer here.
    • Then choose the printer model.

  • After selecting the printer model you have the option to print a test page.
  • All printers which have been previously chosen are listed in the overview of printers.

Printing in private Wi-Fi network

  • In order to print in your private Wi-Fi network you require a Wi-Fi router that supports a printer connection. For further information, consult your Wi-Fi router manual.

  • Please ensure that the printer as well as your mobile device are connected via Wi-Fi. You can now print directly via Wi-Fi with Cortado Workplace without having to turn on your computer.

  • If your smartphone does not automatically detect your printer, please select ADD PRINTER and enter your Wi-Fi router's IP address.

  • Many routers have 192.168.1.1 as their IP address. For further information, consult your Wi-Fi router manual.

Print E-Mail Attachments

  • If you want to print an e-mail attachment, first open the e-mail program on your Android device. Tap on the required e-mail attachment.
  • In the window "Complete action using" select CORTADO WORKPLACE.
  • Then tap on PRINT. Continue as described at Print Files ».

Open E-Mail Attachments in Cortado

  • You can also save an e-mail attachment to your Cortado Workplace. To do so tap on SEND TO WORKPLACE.
  • Enter and confirm a file name.
  • The file can now be found in your CORTADO WORKPLACE directory.

Print From a Browser

  • If you want to print the contents of a webpage then tap the menu key of your Android device and then on SHARE PAGE.
  • Then select the Cortado Workplace app.
  • Tap on PRINT and continue as described at Print Files ».

Print-to-ePaper

This feature makes it possible for users of ThinPrint Server Engine software to send files from a Windows workstation to an Android device.

To use the feature "Print to ePaper", open the Cortado app’s SETTINGS (via the menu key of your Android device) and activate the "print to ePaper" checkbox.

On the Windows workstation:

  • When in a program, select the print function and then the “Print-to-ePaper” printer.
  • Then click on SETTINGS. In the tab "Print-to-Cloud", enter your access credentials for Cortado Workplace.
  • Then click on PRINT. The file is now delivered as a PDF to your Workplace account.

On the Android device:

  • The PDF document can now be found at CORTADO WORKPLACE directory, in the ePaper subfolder.

Book Premium Services / Change Password

  • Please click on the menu button of your Android device and select HELP & SUPPORT.
  • Next, choose a browser with which you want to open the following web page. (We recommend Firefox for the best display).
  • To book premium services, now choose PREMIUM SERVICES. These comprise:
    • expansion of the online storage 
  • To change your password, choose MY ACCOUNT instead.
  • At the bottom of the web page at “Change password” you can change your password.
  • To do so enter your current password and then your new password, and confirm it.
  • Your password must contain a minimum of seven characters. Then click on "Change".
  • You can open our portal CLOUD CENTRAL alternatively on your PC or Mac in order to book premium services or change your password. To do so open this link on your PC or Mac.
